Advice and Comments
Specific plea to bribery of an umpire or referee arguably is not commercial bribery and should not be an AF even with 1 year; more research may be needed.1Commercial bribery, bribery of a witness, and obstruction of justice are aggravated felonies if a year is imposed, but bribery of a referee or umpire should not be. See 8 USC § 1101(a)(43)(R), (S). Advocates could investigate whether the statute is indivisible between bribery of a witness and an umpire.
